All of our readings, for this Sunday, are about God’s mercy, the necessity for trusting faith and the need for God’s forgiveness of sins.  The opening prayer addresses the Father as “God of Mercy”.  In the responsorial psalm we repeat several times, “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; for His mercy endures forever!” Read the rest of this entry »

Easter is the greatest and the most important feast in the church for several reasons.  First, the resurrection of Christ is the basis of our Christian faith.  It is the greatest of the miracles, proving that Jesus is God.  That is why St. Paul writes: “If Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain; and your faith is in vain.” (I Cor. 15:14).  Read the rest of this entry »
